El Salvador, located in Central America, is the most thickly populated country in the region. It is also the smallest nation in the region. The economy is fully dollarized. Traditionally, the economy of the country has been agriculture-based. However, industry and services now provide more job opportunities. Chief productions of the country include fertilizer, textiles, petroleum, chemicals, furniture and light metals. Around fifty percent of the land is used to grow crops. Rice, beans, oilseeds and sorghum are grown and corn is the leading crop of El Salvador. Main cash crops include coffee and sugar. |
